• Thanks to Pauline Cherry for her recent mission report on her trip to Hondourus.
  • A recent article in the Pine Bluff Commercial hightlighted the sale of our relica sanctuarys in the "Buy a Church to Build a Church" program. Churches are still available, so if you'd like to order one, just call the church office. Cost: $50 each.
  • The Session approved the Multiply the Gift Fund for mission support. Get your ideas ready! The program kicks of on Mothers Day.

Good Mission is More than Money!

Here at First, we believe that mission is more than lip service.  Outreach of the hand and the heart to people in need of Good News, a warm cloak, a hot meal, a safe place to lay their heads, and the dignity of a cool drink of living water are what we are about.  Mission matters because God said so.  We matter to mission because as people of faith we are God's hands and feet, mouth and heart.

Jesus once said, "Love your neighbor as yourself" (Luke 10:27) and "Go and make disciples of all nations" (Matthew 28: 19)

Within the context of these directives from God---the Great Commandment and the Great Commission---lays the call to both Community and Global Ministry at First. Through hands-on service which addresses the needs of our homeless and impoverished neighbors, or journeys which break through barriers of language, geography, and culture to assist indigenous churches around the world with their own call to ministry, opportunities abound for members to "give back in gratitude" as well as to learn and grow from the experience of worship, working and witnessing alongside committed Christians with whom we partner, be it up the street and or across the ocean.

All of this is why we support a miriad of vital and important outreach initiatives, not just in money but in love.  In the coming months, many of those missions will be highlighted here on our Web Site.  If you'd like to join our ever growing mission, feel free to give us a call or send us an email.  You'll be glad you did!
