To God be the Glory!
By definition, concert music is that which is performed outside the context of a worship service. Concerts are not worship services, although one is certainly capable of worshipping in a concert situation, and the performers' art can be a musical offering to God.
Obviously, because of the above some considerations (such as theme, language, applause, concert protocol) will be different from those which we find in the context of worship. Challenging art music and other music that primarily exisits to display the virtuousity of the performer are welcome in this context as gifts from God to us. That's why we believe that the music performed in concert programs at First Presbyterian Church should be:
- To the Glory of God.
- Excellent.
- Artistic.
- Edifying to the Saints.
- An outreach to the community.
- A venue for professional Christian musicians.
As always, you are encouraged to support, through special gifts, the ongoing concert series of First Presbyterian Church we call "Great Music in a Great Space." Donations are always welcome in volunteer time or financial support.
To God be the glory!
